About StartupIndex
StartupIndex is a free directory of new startups. Founders submit their product, the community upvotes, and the best rise to the leaderboard every week.
How listings work
A founder submits a startup with its website, a tagline, a description and a category. A person checks that the product is real, the site works and the description is honest. Approved listings get a permanent page and a dofollow link. Rejected submissions get an email with the reason and can be fixed and sent again.
How the ranking works
Members upvote startups they find useful. The Trending list on the home page counts upvotes from the last seven days, so new startups have a fair shot every week. The leaderboard has a monthly view and an all time view. Nothing else feeds the ranking: no paid placement, no editorial score.
How we make money
Submitting is free and stays free. Founders can buy a Featured or Promoted boost to be shown in more places for a fixed number of days. Boosted listings are marked as such, and their upvotes are counted like everyone else's. See the advertise page for prices.
Editorial policy
- Every listing is reviewed by a person before it is public.
- We do not list adult content, gambling, get rich quick schemes or sites that exist only to sell links.
- Founders can edit their listing at any time. Changing the name or the website sends it back to review.
- Fake upvotes get removed and the accounts behind them are closed.

Questions people ask
What is StartupIndex?
StartupIndex is a directory of new startups. Founders submit their product, a person reviews it, and the community ranks it with upvotes.
How is the ranking calculated?
The Trending list counts upvotes from the last seven days. The monthly leaderboard counts the last thirty days. Most points counts every upvote ever cast. Ties break on total upvotes and then on launch date.
Do paid boosts affect the ranking?
No. A boost changes where a listing is shown, for example the Featured list or a pinned row. It never adds points.
Is the link to my site dofollow?
Yes, once the listing is approved. Links on listings that are still in review are nofollow.
