Tailscale

A private network that just works

Includes 15 simulated benchmark votes4 comments

About Tailscale

Tailscale builds a mesh VPN on top of WireGuard. Install it on your laptops, servers and phones, sign in with an identity provider, and every device can reach the others directly without opening ports or running a bastion. Access rules are written as policy, and Tailscale Funnel can expose one service to the public web.

I stopped running a bastion host entirely. Every box is just reachable and acls decide the rest.

Pam went into beta in august, application aware access for ssh, databases, rdp and k8s. That is aimed squarely at the enterprise buyers. It is doing more work than the marketing copy suggests.

For us, Free tier covers a personal setup completely. 100 devices is more than I will ever have.

Magicdns is the small feature that makes the whole thing feel magic. Names just work. Not glamorous, which is a compliment here.
