About Turso
Turso runs SQLite as a hosted database with replicas placed close to your users, so reads are fast wherever the request comes from. It is built on libSQL, an open fork of SQLite, and supports embedded replicas that keep a local copy in sync with the edge.

honestly, embedded replicas are the interesting bit. local reads at zero latency, writes go to the edge...

Sqlite in production still makes some people twitch but for read heavy apps it is fine. My inbox is less angry now.

the libsql fork being open matters.
